You are installing the database version, and it is saying there is already a database with that table in it. Did you use Fantastico?

If you want to start from scratch, you may need to empty the database or just create a brand new one.
Could it be your browser settings? What browser are you using? I just worked on someone's computer, and they use Firefox. In their browser settings, they had selected to always save the file to a particular directory instead of asking where to save it... so when I went to save a file, it did not give me a choice, and I had to check the settings in Tools, Options, Downloads, to find out where the file was saved. It did save it, though. Maybe it is something like that and you need to tell your browser to always ask where to save files??? Just guessing here.

  • This has been answered numerous times. It's about white space in your files that needs cleaning up.
Forget zip and all that stuff. In PhyMyAdmin, you just select "export", select all tables, check the "save as file" box, click on "go", and it gets saved as a .sql file in whatever directory you point to. The default filename it gets saved to is username_dbname.sql.

When you want to import that .sql file into a database, you just select "SQL" in PhpMyAdmin and point to the .sql file on your hard drive to have it populate a database.
See the demos for sample code. Demo 1 shows polls side by side, Demo 3 shows one poll with list of all polls below.

Here's a post on changing the template:

  • Find many more posts by searching. Click on the Search link at the top of this forum. For the search string use "poll AND template" (without the quotes). Narrow the search to the support forum. You should find many posts on how to do this.
What is the page you want the poll to appear on? Some people put it on their index (home) page.

Edit the page you want the poll to appear on. Put the cookie code at the top of the page, and then put the poll code in the page at whatever place you want the poll to show up.
    Read this post:

    Admin config.inc.php file:
    http://proxy2.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3654

When you install from CPanel, it creates the database and user for you. So, it would have been good if you had saved the config.inc.php file that it created.

Look for the database name and user in CPanel, MySql databases. You could create your own user and link the new user to the database. Or you could delete that database created by Fantastico and start fresh with the guestbook's install file.
    It's the count.txt file.
If you right-click on "Sign the guestbook" and select "properties", you will see that this is an image called "signing.gif". Edit templates/body.php (around line 5) and remove the code that calls the image:

The dropdown menu is used for navigating through pages. I have also found it useful during emergency recovery on some websites. I would advise against removing it. In your Administration Panel, there is a place to select how many guestbook entries you want on a page. I think most people use 10 or 15 per page. When you have more guestbook entries than the number per page, you use the dropdown menu to move to the next page. You can also put your own links there. If you visit this site's guestbook and use the dropdown menu, you will see how this works.

If you don't want it, perhaps reading up on how it is set up would give you an idea on how to remove it:

As far as adding fields, this has been discussed before. Do a search. I searched for "fields." There are a lot of posts on this. Here are a few:

  • I use my ftp program, CuteFTP. It has a built-in editor and, unlike Notepad, it does not add blank lines which can produce that "headers already sent" error.

Sometimes I edit from CPanel's File Manager.
    The misc folder has dump_mysql.sql, uninstall.php, get_admin.php, tb_mysql.php, info.php, and more.

I have now installed Advanced Poll, Coppermine, Zen Cart, OS Commerce and WordPress using Fantastico with zero problems. All these programs work well, which makes me think your host is a factor. I have a great host.
I've been using the textfile version of Advanced Poll. For the latest installation I did, I decided to try the database version, and I used Fantastico to install it.

I noticed that there is no message after installation telling you to remove the install.php file. Isn't leaving this on your server a security risk?

What about the misc directory? Aren't files in there a security risk also if left on the server?

After installation, I removed the misc directory and install directory, and it works fine without them.

I am thinking most people who installed using Fantastico have left these files on their server.
